For an an overview of my approach to couple therapy, please watch my presentation for Stanford’s faculty and staff by clicking here.
My approach to couple therapy begins with a specialized assessment battery that explores all aspects of your life together—communication, intimacy, trust, and more. This process allows me to efficiently cut through the noise and focus on the specific areas where you need support, ensuring our work is targeted and meaningful from the start. Using these insights, we’ll embark on a tailored journey to strengthen your relationship.
We’ll meet weekly for 50 or 80-minute sessions, giving us ample time to dive deeply into your needs. I use a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) and Gottman Method Couple Therapy (GMCT). EFT, one of the few approaches proven effective in randomized controlled trials, helps 70-75% of couples improve their relationship. It focuses on strengthening your emotional bond, guiding you to uncover and express deeper feelings so you can move beyond surface arguments to nurture the core of your connection. GMCT, grounded in Dr. John Gottman’s extensive research, provides strategies to enhance communication, manage conflict, and nurture the small, everyday moments that build lasting intimacy. Together, these approaches address both the heart and habits of your relationship.
For specific challenges, such as difficulties with intimacy, I draw on evidence-based techniques to foster openness and understanding. When clinically appropriate, I collaborate with trusted referral partners—reputable coaches who can offer additional guidance as an adjunct to our therapy.
I offer free 15-minute consultations with each partner, individually.

I think of individual therapy as occurring in two phases: 1) Symptom reduction, and 2) Self-Actualization.
For symptom reduction, I use an extremely effective form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy called TEAM CBT. TEAM CBT is structured to deliver rapid, lasting change for a wide range of challenges. Unlike approaches that require lengthy commitments, my goal is to equip you with the skills and tools to control your symptoms and ultimately be be your own therapist, often within 8-12 sessions.
TEAM CBT helps individuals break free from old narratives and habits that no longer serve them. With this approach, I have successfully supported people navigating anxiety (including panic attacks and phobias), depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma, and stressful life transitions.
Once we’ve achieved symptom relief and met your initial treatment goals, I am happy to are happy to offer a deeper journey towards self-actualization through the use of psychodynamic approaches. In this phase of therapy we explore the roots of your experiences to foster greater insight and further growth.
It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. I invite you to schedule a free phone consultation with me to explore if my approach feels like a good fit for you at this stage of your journey.
